Project Overview
A bespoke timber garden room with glazed doors, insulated for year-round use, paired with a new natural stone patio, pergola, and outdoor kitchen area.
The clients had a generous west-facing garden but were using it for just eight weeks of the year. The brief was to create something genuinely usable twelve months round — not a summerhouse, but a proper room.
The garden room is built on a concrete pad foundation, clad in thermally modified timber that weathers to a natural silver-grey without maintenance, and insulated to current building regulation standards. Full-height glazed doors on the south elevation fold back fully to open the space to the patio. The interior is finished with oak-effect engineered flooring, plastered walls, and a ceiling-mounted electric panel heater supplemented by an underfloor heating mat.
Outside, a 90m² natural limestone patio surrounds the garden room and continues to a separate dining terrace, linked by a pergola with integrated outdoor lighting. An outdoor kitchen unit — sink, two-burner gas hob, and integrated smoker — sits under a covered canopy to the east side. The project required groundworks, drainage, electrical cabling across the garden, and close coordination with a landscaper who planted the surrounding borders once the hard landscaping was complete.
